Diálogos do Bosque
Diálogos do Bosque is a Portuguese company, specialised and exclusively dedicated to the production and processing of prickly pears, as well as of vegetative propagating material of the prickly pear cactus - Opuntia ficus índica, having started its activity in 2013.
Our farm is situated in Alentejo, one of the regions of excellence for the production of high quality prickly pears, both in terms of calibre and flavour.
Since 2014, the whole farm is certified in organic production method and, in 2015, we got GlobalG.A.P. International certification.
Our processes of harvesting, selection, cleaning, calibration, packaging, preservation and shipment are carried out extremely carefully in order to provide high quality fruit.
In 2016, we have implemented the first electronic and automated cleaning and calibrating line for prickly pears in Portugal.
One of our main goals is the marketing of high quality prickly pears, namely those intended for dessert fruit, and as such we only select for that purpose the fruit classified in “Extra”class. The remaining fruit goes to the processing industry.

Prickly Pears
Prickly pears are supplied without glochids (prickles) in clamshell-type trays for 3 to 6 units, according to their calibre, which in turn are packed in 40x30 cm boxes for 5 trays or in 40x30 cm boxes with specific cavities for the prickly pears, in which case with a capacity for 24 units..
Regarding the calibres, we use the following classification according to the CODEX STAN 186:
A – 90 g a 105 g;
B – 105 g a 140 g;
C – 140 g a 190 g;
D – 190 g a 270g;
E – > 270 g.
